LAST DAY IN EUROPE!

Today was my last day in Paris and Europe. We slept in a little bit later this morning (finally) and went to mass at notre-dame, the strange thing was that tours were going on during mass. After mass we walked around the cathedral and found the Shakespeare Co. Book store where I think a few authors used to go to write?

After notre-dame, we walked toward the arc du triomph to watch the tour de france. There were so many people; we had a hard time seeing the bicyclists but we did get to see a glimpse of them. The most interesting part though was talking to people from all over the world while we were waiting for the bicyclists to arrive. We met people from Norway, Denmark, Spain, Belgium and even some Americans. There were a lot of Texas flags too, apparently Lance Armstrong is from Texas, I didn't know that.

Then we came back to the hotel and went to dinner inside a mall near the hotel, the mall was so futuristic and modern, along with all the buildings in our area.

It's bittersweet to be leaving Europe tomorrow. I've had an amazing time and learned so much. I've also learned how grateful I am to have the life that I live back in the states though!! This seriously has been a wonderful experience for me, I've loved every minute of being over here!!

But I'm more than ready for some twice-baked potatoes and american steak :)

Day Two in Paris

We started off the day with a bus tour, it took us all around the city of Paris, everything from the eiffel tower to statues of napolean to the louvre. At the end of the tour we were dropped off at the louvre and walked around inside the museum for a few hours. We saw the mona lisa painting along with some egyptian artifacts and roman sculptures.

After the louvre, we went on a boat tour down on the river by the eiffel tower. From the river we could see Notre-Dame, the old prison that marie antoinette was executed in and some other monuments.

Then we went up to the top of the eiffel tower; it was the most amazing thing i've ever done! Once we were halfway up I really couldn't imagine being any higher up..but i'm so glad we went to the top.

After finally coming back down to the bottom, we ate some crepes and watched the tower sparkle some more, I love watching it sparkle!

Tomorrow we want to go to Mass at Notre-Dame and then watch the Tour de France come through around 5 pm. Should be a nice relaxing last day, then back to the states on Monday!

First Day in Paris

Today we arrived in Paris around dinner time, I still can't believe we're not in Spain anymore, we are starting to realize that we're not going back and it's a little bittersweet. And we've caught ourselves talking to the people here in spanish without even meaning to. Luckily most people understand spanish here... and english! our french bus driver definitely did not like us. But besides him, the french people that we met have all been pretty nice to us.

I taught my friends the basic french that i remembered learning from mom and non, i didnt remember a lot but every little bit helps!

Once we arrived in Paris, we took the metro to the eiffel tower and literally just sat there and stared up at the tower for half an hour. It's absolutely beautiful in person! Every hour for about five minutes, the tower sparkles. So we bought some crepes nearby and sat in the lawn and watched the eiffel tower sparkle show.

Now I'm back in the hotel. We're in the business district so we have a pretty long metro ride to get to all the tourist attractions in Paris, but I don't mind it because we dont have annoying tourists around us.

Tomorrow morning we are going on a bus tour of the city. My camera is fully charged, I plan on taking lots of pictures! I'm going to post a picture of the sparkling eiffel tower on here later too :)
